VOICES WE SHOULD NOT FORGET
Voice We Should Not Forget is a profoundly moving piece, in which animation theatre, object animation and documentary are combined to create a visual experience which leaves a deep impression on the heart.
Through the medium of recorded audio reportage we gain an intimate and raw insight into the journeys of people who have experienced escape from danger – from a childhood in wartime, flight and arrival into a new and insecure reality. The design incorporates a growing tableau of cabinets and cupboards in which the stories physically unfold, drawing us into a stream of memories, dreams and nightmares.
The musical score, by composer Pete Livingstone, becomes a co-narrator of this story; sound, rhythm and speech are woven together in a wave of emotions.
